Supervisor Ken Goffin appointed the Planning Commission members on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. The members appointed to a one year term are Eldred Swanson and Bill Lenca. Members appointed to a two year term are Frances Havelka and Mike Harding. Bill Kelley and Pat Barker were appointed to three year terms. The Planning Commission will meet again on September 21, 2010. Eldred Swanson is chairperson and Pat Barker is secretary.The board also voted to approve collection of Menominee Public School taxes (operating and debt) on the summer tax bills instead of the winter tax bills. This will allow the Menominee Area Public Schools to minimize borrowing money for operations and save money spent on interest. The school district will reimburse the township the amount it is currently receiving from the state for collection which the township will lose when the taxes are moved.
The next regular Menominee Township Board Meeting will be September 22, 2010 at 6:30 pm.
The next Planning Commission Meeting will be September 21, 2010 at 6:30pm at the Menominee Township Hall.
